A macabre 19th century style musical automaton, 'Prison', the skulls debate, then instruct the executioner skull to start the mechanism which carries a blade to cut through the neck of the captive, at which point blood (red ink) flows from his neck into a jar; the victim grins and moves his eyes, the whole encased in a glass dome, 94 x 64 cm overall
totally reconditioned / restored, the mechanism probably 19th century, many replaced components, cabinet reconstructed with all interior surfaces painted
