Bidding Online

We now offer live bidding on our website, simply create an account and then visit our upcoming auctions to register and bid on a sale.
You will need to register a valid debit or credit card before you can bid. On the day of the sale you will be able to listen to a live feed of the rostrum to join the sale remotely and bid in real time. You can also register bids in advance by leaving an Autobid. Our system will automatically bid during the live sale on your behalf up to the amount you have specified. Your bids will appear as live internet bids to the Auctioneer, and the Auctioneer will not be aware of your maximum bid at any time.

Our auctions are also available on three other market-leading online bidding platforms. The Saturday Homes & Antiques Auctions can be accessed via the-saleroom.com and easyliveauction.com and our Fine Art, Antiques & Decorative Interiors can be found on those platforms as well as invaluable.com

In Person

If you are planning on coming to the auction you will need to complete a registration form on arrival, and you will be given a paddle number. We need your full contact details including address, telephone number and email address for invoicing purposes, as well as photo ID such as a passport or drivers licence for Anti-Money-Laundering purposes.

Commission Bid

We can bid on your behalf - simply register on this website to leave your instructions or contact us either by phone or email to tell us the maximum amount you would wish to pay for the lot, and we will attempt to purchase it at the lowest possible price, allowing for other bids and any reserve price, up to your maximum bid. Commission bids left with the auctioneer by telephone or email do not incur any extra charge, but we do ask that they are left with us before the start of the auction. Commission bids left via the website will incur a 3% additional charge - please note that the facility to leave an online commission bid is suspended an hour before bidding starts. We operate a timed bidding system whereby if two or more bids are left for the same amount, the first bid received by us will be the buyer.

Telephone Bids

For our Fine Art, Antique & Decorative Interiors Auctions only - we can organise this so that we call you a few lots beforehand and you can bid live. You must be prepared to pay at the very least the low estimate. Telephone bids must be left with us the day before the auction. Telephone bidding does not incur any additional charges, but we may suspend telephone bidding on particular lots if demand outweighs available telephone lines and operators.

What are your charges?

We charge a buyers premium of 27.6% inclusive (23% plus VAT) on all lots purchased at auction.
There is an additional 3% plus VAT on top of our buyers premium if you bid via our website, 3% plus VAT or a £3 flat fee if you bid via easyliveauction.com, 5% plus VAT if you purchase through invaluable.com or the-saleroom.com

How soon do I need to pay for and collect my items?

Our payment terms are printed in our catalogues and are available via our online catalogue. For our Saturday Homes & Antiques Auctions payment and collection is required by the Wednesday after the auction, and for our Fine Art, Antique & Decorative Interiors Auctions payment and collection is required by the Tuesday after the auction. You may pay and collect on the day of the sale, but please note that the end time is approximate only and will vary according to number of lots and selling speed. For a Saturday Homes & Antiques Auction we will remain open whilst there are still people here collecting purchased items - but will close as soon as the last person leaves. We cannot therefore guarantee that we will still be open should you turn up to collect after 2pm.

Please note that we do not offer packing or shipping, but can provide details of third party companies that can help if you are not able to collect in person.
