A pair of 19th century Japanese Kutani vases, Meiji period (1868-1912) with elephant mask loose ring handles, painted with various shaped panels depicting Rakan/Arhats, flowers and red-crowned cranes in the typical Kutani palette with gilt highlights, unmarked bases, 36 cm high 
One vase with long vertical hairline extending down from the rim, firing splits to handles, the other vase undamaged, both with some wear to gilding and enamels
