A Charles I jointed oak box-seat table-chair, circa 1640, having a pivotal boarded top/back with cleated ends over round-ended flat open-arms, on ring-turned through supports, a hinged boarded seat flanked by chip-carved narrow boards, joined by plain perimeter stretchers , 67cm wide x 98.5cm deep x 70cm high
Provenance - purchased John Caspall, Stow-On The-Wold, Glos., ex Bonhams Oxford sale lot 281, 2020
Top is original to the base, however in our opinion it has been removed for some repair/regluing etc
To the left hand side of the box seat is a small piece that has been re-attached
General wear commensurate wtih age including splits, warping etc Top probably re-polished
