A scarce family pair of 18th century death masks; Sir John Scott, 1st Earl Eldon, his plaster death mask, 19th century, died 13th January 1838 aged 87 years, the cast signed and dated 'Eldon 1843', 27 cm h, raised on an ebonised stand and his brother, Sir William Scott, Lord Stowell, his plaster death mask, died 28th January 1838 aged 91 years, the cast signed and dated 'Eldon 1843', 29 cm h, raised on an ebonised stand, ink inscribed paper labels to underside of both stands, housed within a satinwood table cabinet, with flush brass campaign style handle to the top, with fall front (damages)
