An antique violin with 36 cm two-piece flame back, ascribed in accompanying 1938 letter as a 'genuine old Tyrolese violin made in Mittenwald about 1830 to 1840, probably by one of the Horstainer family, and I think will always be of value'; in fitted case with a bow stamped 'Tourte'
