An interesting WW1 British Royal Navy Destroyer's bulkhead clock inscribed 'HMS Lance … Launched 25.Feb.1914.'  the brass case with eight day movement, 20cm dial having an applied makers plate 'Prescot Clock Co' Notes: HMS Lance was a Laforey-class destroyer of the Royal Navy. Launched a few months before the outbreak of the First World War and attached to the Harwich Force, HMS Lance took part in numerous engagements during the war which included responsibility for firing the first shot of WWI culminating in the sinking of the German minelayer Königin Luise. Other actions included participation in the Battle of Heligoland Bight and the Battle off Texel, resulting in severe damage to the German torpedo fleet. Listed as scrapped in 1921. Estimate £400/600 Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th October 2015
